Pest COVID-19 Have you heard about it? of course you have, Its changed the way we all live, however you may ask what has this to do with this month's bulletin on pest control? Well it is that Covid has changed our wildlife as well - there has been less footfall by humans so the wildlife, foxes, birds, rodents feel safe to come out so don't be surprised to see rats out in the open. Also food sources have changed for them, restaurant bin areas and the like, so everything has changed. Rats are very quiet creatures and this time of the year looking for harbourage and food, they will traverse 300 meters to obtain food, they can chew through most materials in minutes only glass stops them. They breed, if they can get food, can suckle a litter and be pregnant again, they have a built in awareness to new items called Neophobia and will know if a trap is put down, and will go round it. However because they are creature of habit and will not deviate from a route or routine, that can be used to control them, we can only give general advice. If using back breaker traps leave them unset for a couple of days before setting, use any cereal for bait. If using poison follow instructions, please do not use bait from unknown sources, if there is accidental poisoning you will be asked where you obtained it, and most poisons are tasteless and the colour has nothing to do with the active ingredient. If you want advice please ask we are happy to help, Oh make sure you check your Christmas decorations rodents LOVE to chew. Check us out on "TrustaTrader" No report in December.
